Mari at Stonehenge, Wiltshire, England in 2018.

Welcome to Sophic Orb! Mari Garcia is a Puerto Rican/Cuban American library technician, book reviewer, book dragon, editor, and aspiring writer. She moves too much with her military family; therefore, she gets to travel a LOT. Her passion for literature, history, and cultures led her to start this blog, as she wants to share with you the books, places, and pretty things that sparkle her enthusiasm.

Mari believes that reading and traveling ignites the imagination and allows us to see the world through the eyes of others. And the comprehension of different perspectives can make the world a better place.

She supports the We Need Diverse Books and Own Voices movements in literature. Since she is a fervent believer in the necessity of diverse representation in books, she focuses on stories written and illustrated by authors and illustrators who belong to minorities.

Other things Mari enjoys: exercise, genealogy, thrifty stylish clothes, and tea.
